Courtney G. Draz

Savannah- Courtney Grant Draz, 93, passed away on October 13, 2013 in Savannah, GA.
Born in New York City on January 17, 1920 to Rudolf and Lillian Nee Hunsberger Draz, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific theatre as an aircraft radioman. He married Zell Hart Hurlbert on May 7, 1949 and they had three children: Douglas Griswold Draz died in 2011, Christian Courtney Draz of Boston, and Griswold Hurlbert Draz of Wellfleet, MA. He is also survived by two grandsons, Emmett and Julian.
Courtney was a top sales executive in the garment industry in New York City for many years, working for such companies as Hansen Knits and Arrow Shirts. In the nineteen fifties, sixties and seventies, he enjoyed summer vacations on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with family. In the early seventies Courtney met and eventually married Patricia Barclay Stambaugh. In 1986, after Courtney's retirement they moved from West New York, New Jersey to The Landings on Skidaway Island. During his retirement there Courtney was an active tennis player being labeled as one of the oldest players on the courts.
Patricia's son Drew Stambaugh lived with and cared for both Courtney and Patricia died 2009 allowing them to remain in their home for their final years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
